ABOUT THE JIVIN' BELLES:
The Jivin' Belles are a 3-part close-harmony swing vocal group comprised of Edmonton-based singers Emily Guthrie, Kate Blechinger, and Mallory Chipman. The band was formed in 2013 when the three girls were gushing over the sounds of the inconic 1940s group, The Andrews Sisters, and thought, "why don't we do this?!" After all, they were three girls who adored singing with one another and had soft spots for vintage - it seemed like the perfect fit! So, in that moment, The Jivin' Belles were formed. Inspired by the sounds of The Andrews Sisters, The Boswell Sisters, The Chordettes, The King Sisters, and The Puppini Sisters, The Jivin' Belles promise to evoke a familiar yet original sound, tinged with nostalgia and fuelled with passion. They specialize in swing era favourites and unique arrangements of modern pop tunes. They have played a number of swing dances; charity concerts, for organizations such as the Edmonton Human Society and the Youth Empowerment Services Society; private events; and more. Most recently, The Jivin' Belles opened for Fred Penner at Edmonton's K-Days. Keep your ears peeled for the swingin' sounds of the Jivin' Belles at an event near you!
